242241 - Texas Accessibility Academy (Day 1 of 2)

Tuesday AM/PM - This is Day 1 of a 2-day course for Registered Accessibility Specialists (RAS), architects, designers and building officials. This is a comprehensive study of the Texas Architectural Barriers Act (TABA), Administrative Rules and the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards (2012 TAS). Attendees will receive general information about the TABA, Administrative Rules and the 2012 TAS, including participation in activities to reinforce technical content. The full 2-day course is certified for 16-hours of RAS CEUs.

Instructors:

Marsha Godeaux – Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
Marsha Godeaux has a master’s degree in Architecture from Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M. She has worked at TDLR for over ten years starting as a plan reviewer and working her way up to her current position as Architectural Barriers Team Lead. Marsha’s most recent success in the AB Program has been her collaboration on the Texas Architectural Barriers online System (TABS) which launched on December 3rd, 2018, and becoming the ex-officio representative for TDLR on the Texas Governor’s Committee for People with Disabilities (GCPD).


Jonathan Sparks – Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
Jonathan Sparks has been with the Architectural Barriers program of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation since April 2021. He started as a Program Specialist I and has worked his way up to a Program Specialist III. Prior to working with TDLR, Jonathan has worked in many different fields such as physical security, automotive technician, and logistics. He brings a variety of knowledge and is a valuable member of the Architectural Barriers team. He is a native Austinite and attended Pflugerville High School. After graduating, Jonathan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transportation Operator and is a combat veteran.
